Plex Bender

Here is a piece I made after seeing something similar a long time ago, I added a few of my own features. This bends various kinds of plastic sheets, the sample shows how it makes good uniform bends. This is a very usefull tool in any shop.
To make one, first I baught an old toaster at a thrift store, taking it apart to get the wire heating filament. It is stretched accross and inside a channel that is metal guarded. An important aspect is the spring at one end, as the filament heats up it expands, the spring keeps it in tension and from sagging down and breaking. The rheostat controls the amount of heat, according to how thick the plastic your bending is.You lay the plastic on the board and it heats up in a straight line, you then bend it at desired angle and wait till it cools.
