sound machine
two functional museum display sound activators
Here is my first sound machine, made from what ever I could find in the shop and a few purchases. The requirements were a cannon sound that would play when a button pressed and hidden speakers. I made the case out of sintra I bended to shape with my plex bender.

Here are the guts, I dissected a digital voice recorder for the sound input and output to amplifier. The main problem with this setup is the digital voice recorder had a sleep mode, to over ride this I installed a one tenth rpm motor with a rod to a roller switch that is wired to the volume button on the recorder, tricking it to bypass the sleep mode. It was also tricky to solder on the recorders small board.

This is where it is installed, I used a sound bite purchased on the internet.

Now heres a real sound machine, I unfortunately didn't hear about this one till after I made the one above.
This is the initial setup so I could give it to the speech input people using the Mac Fi. I wired the buttons in order, put a speaker and microphone with instructions on how to operate. The base in made of sintra I bent with my plex bender, quick and easy.

Once the sound was input I installed it in this museum display. I wired it to the buttons and installed and wired it to the above sound dome. It works great and adds an interactive touch to the full display.
